As I was checking one of my pigs teeth tonight, I realized one of his two front teeth are longer than the other. I decided I'm taking them to the vet Frida, but I was wondering if this was normal or not?
It is likely that one front tooth has broken off and is now growing back (which is a matter of days). That is not at all uncommon. Front teeth are self sharpening, so be careful if your vet decides to clip the bottom teeth. The front teeth will only need treatment if they don't end up straight with an even edge. A vet needs to check whether the front teeth are sitting loose.
If your boy struggles to eat, grate any veg and mush up the pellets with some boiled, cooled water for easier eating until the tooth has grown back. Weigh daily at the same time to monitor the food intake and if necessary, top up with hand feed, especially of eating hay is not possible (as that should make up to 80% of the daily food intake, so consists of a large chunk of the diet). However, I doubt that that is necessary in your case.
