only eating cucumbers...

hey, i’ve had my guinea pig for exactly a week now and ive noticed that’s she still only comes out to eat and explore her cage at night, but she’s taking treats out my hand
every night i give her fresh veg and in the morning i wake up , all the cucumber is gone and the other veg hasn’t been touched. i’ve tried hand feeding her the othe veg but she just turned around, however when i try hand feeding the cucumber she takes it and purrs ...
why won’t she take the other veg? could i introduce it to her if she had never had other things before in her previous home? thank you :)
 
Keep trying her with a variety of things - but just like us, they’ll like some things but not others.
As we have mentioned previously, they learn things from each other and while she is a single piggy, then she is only relying only on herself rather than seeing her cage mate try something and knowing that she can also eat it

so what other veg do you think i should try giving her?
 
Hello. You could try coriander and bell peppers. Mine prefer green ones. They will get used to different veg over time.
 
My little nervous Cleo (nearly 6months) came to me at 8weeks having never had veg really either, she was really fussy as probably didn’t have a clue what it was! She started coming round to things like coriander and parsley, fresh grass was a big hit too (all in very small amounts at first so it didn’t upset her tummy as she hadn’t had it before).
It took a while with her and only really started tucking into a big variety when she joined her cagemate (neutered) Jasper, who loves his veg and she knew it was all safe as she pinched it out of his mouth! :))

i’ll definitely try bell peppers, is there a specific colour pigs should have or prefer out of red, green and orange ?

They can have all colours of pepper. Mine generally have yellow mostly but that’s only because they’re the only colour ones we like as a family. My piggies do like the red and green though, and I’ll occasionally buy them those coloured
peppers specifically for them
 
They wouldn’t touch red peppers to start with. Fussy boys 😃. But they ate green ones and they will now eat red if that’s all I have to offer!
 
Mine love all colours of peppers! But tends to be red and green mainly here.
Jasper and Cleo wouldn’t touch either when they first arrived but one of the first veg to be scoffed now!
