So I dropped Ginny and Luna at the vets this morning on my way to work. Ginny was down to have her ovaries removed. I'm a nervous wreck!

I started crying as soon as I got to work, luckily everyone knows how much my piggies mean to me so they have been very understanding.

The vet said they have a very busy day today and might not be able to ring me until much later. It all got too much for me, so I rang them at 1pm just to see if she'd had the operation yet. She's had the "procedure" (as they call it) and it all went well. The team are doing another operation at the moment, so they will ring me with more details in about an hour. Phew.

I'm relieved that it has gone well so far, she still alive which is the main thing! Now I'm nervous again waiting for a further update.

Part of me is hoping she can come home tonight because I think it will be better for her. Part of me is hoping she stays in overnight so I know she's properly looked after and it's not all on my shoulders.

The things we put ourselves through for the little darlings!

Glad that she has come through the op; that is the biggest hurdle taken.
I hope that she is continuing to come round well.

So glad Ginny is ok and recovering after her operation.
it always so worrying when they are at the vets. It will be just fine once you have her home again. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.xx:nod:

They are home. Ginny went straight in the hay and is eating well. She does keep zoning out and falling asleep with her face in the hay, bless.

I'm prepared for her to go downhill a bit as I've read that can happen after 24hrs, but it's looking positive for now.

Thanks for all your support. I'll be back with questions if I have a panic lol.

She is going to feel a bit rough for the next 2-4 days, especially when the operation drugs are being worked out of the system and until the body is starting to heal fast, but she will hopefully be perkier with every passing day.

So far, it couldn't be better! :tu:

I know every sow is different. But my sow Dot had her spay op and uterus removed because of a huge cervical tumour and she recovered great. Technicly she is still in recovery now. 2 weeks tomorrow. Hope your girl stays strong.
Dots op has made cat and rabbit facebook page take a look at this link when you have the time. Comment 18 has pictures and what op it was. I may have worded it wrong above

Ginny has had a potter round their cage and eaten some pellets. Does this look like a post op piggy to you?

Amazing little girl. Chuffed to bits.

She is doing really well indeed - just what you dream of but don't dare to hope while you are waiting for news... ;)

I would recommend that you check on her once during the night, but frankly I would not worry about her.

Wow amazing to see the photos of the operation.

So I got up at 2:30 am to check on Ginny. They were both a bit weirded out by being woken up, but soon forgave me when the coriander appeared.
Ginny is acting like nothings happened! Quite happily eating hay and pellets and moving round fine.
She is still rumble strutting but I guess that'll take a few day to settle down? Anyone know how long it takes the hormones to leave her body?
She found her heat pad again and went back to sleep, so I left her to it.
