My new little addition has been eating oranges, is it ok for them to eat oranges?

Thanks, Louise
xx

They can have a thin slice of orange or bell pepper for their daily vitamin c. I just bought some oranges today so I am going to alternate between the two. I will probably offer orange twice a week. I am not sure what the sugar content of oranges is, but I know it is okay for them.

Thank you.

He has been eating a whole orange at a time so i'll leave it till next week to give him any orange in case he gets a upset tummy

Wow, he must like oranges :)) Next week I would just start alternating to give him some variety.

i have seen a few full oranges (with peeling) in the pens at pets at home numerous times. although ive never given mine any

I have one that likes a bit of orange but if he is near me when I am having one (how dare I :))) he will help himself to the peel.

Neither of mine like oranges but if I am eating one near Alfie, he tries to get a bite. The minute I offer him some of his own, he won't go near it! x

Be careful that you don't feed too much of any citrus fruit, the acid content can cause a piggies mouth to become sore. They are fine to feed, but try not to give more than 2 segments a week :)

do you take the peeling of the orange first?

I've never given oranges to piggies befor but when he came to me he had oranges with him with the peel on.
I honestly thought oranges would give them a upset stomach!

my piggie doesnt like sweet treats that often. goes mad for fresh hay , grass and romaine lett.

i might try her when were having lunch later on.

Mine like oranges but are not too keen on the smell lol and it's funny to watch the juice run down their lil chins :))
