Ok....
So when buying veg for the babies do you guys buy organic? I try to whenever i can but hubby isnt keen he likes the reduced section!

What does everyone think? xx

I'd like to buy organic but it's SO expensive and I buy vast quantities for the animals. But I'll buy organic bits and pieces for them each week. I've never actually seen organic spring greens though and my bunnies get through tons of the stuff.

Ditto - I used to buy organic stuff but with 10 of them there is no chance i can afford all organic.

I used to buy organic but read somewhere recently that there is no evidence to show that organic is better.. i dunno what to believe. rolleyes
My rabbits have the smart price carrots :red. There the same as the normal ones just odd shaped.

I buy organic for myself, so I do the same for the piggies. No evidence that organic is better? I'm not going into that, but at least it's not sprayed with pesticides (and no, pesticides cannot be washed off). Peppers (capsicum, whatever you call them...) are among the most sprayed produce and because my piggies have them almost every day it feels natural for me to get pesticide free. Especially as piggies are so small... It feels like they are more vulnerable to poison then.

I buy organic for me and the dogs so Roger just fell in line he doesn't seem to mind, mind you he could be a bit more appreciative and stop piddling on me I'm starting to get a complex:))

no offense taken :) I bit harder than I meant to.

Some things are better to buy organic than others. I have Swedish sources and sites but here's a uk one. I know it's for babies, but then piggies are pretty small :))

This is a list of pretty safe foods to buy conventionally grown. No need to shell out billions on organic avocadoes (for me, I think piggies shouldn't have them)

Would love to see the look on the supermarket assistant's face when you pile all the veg onto the till Graham. :))

I spend £15-£20 a week on veg and none of it is organic. Most of what I feed my pigs isn't available organically in Tesco. rolleyes

With my number of piggies, organic isn't an option. I often buy things like peppers from the Sainsbury's basic range - after all piggies don't mind the shape and size of a veg!

THe fruit market i shop at is mostly organic food so my pigs are on about 80% organic food and with 13 pigs no it is certainly not cheap but then again niether are the oxbow cavy cuisine pellets that cost me more because I'm in ozrolleyes,
Everyone does what they can for there pigs and there is no right or wrong way i just love organic due to being brought up on it;)

Hubby coming round..

Well further to the Organic debate..
After a large Veg bill of Organic contents that of course i didnt use in our salad with tea much to my Hubbys disgust..
He has offered a veg patch! So come the summer I'm going to do a veg patch for the babies! I have a feeling i will get probably one carrot froma whole crop that will last the babies one bite but hey-ho worth a try! xx:))

My piggies diet mainly contains Spring Mix, Romain lettuce, green beans, green red or yellow peppers and beats.
I buy organic Spring Mix and Romain lettuce but the veggies are just Giant Eagle brand (Giant Eagles a Pittsburgh store)
