i was just thinking to myself about other people, especially those who have a few piggies, about how often you get them out of their cage, whether it's in an outside run or inside run? I have 8 piggies, but in four groups, girls together and then 2 boys and then two single boys (cose they can't live with anyone else at the moment) and I can't get each one out every night cose of time, and they go in an inside run. They usually get a few hours in turn, say girls one night for 2 hours, then the 2 boys for 2 hours, then the next night the single boys an hour or so each etc. I was just wondering whether you get every one of yours out each night? Girls have 6 x 2 cage and the boys have 5 x 2 and the single ones have 3 x 1.5, those nero 3 cages.

thanks I am just interested to see what other people do :)

i try to get mine out as much as i can as there still gettin use to me, but they always pee over me ;D

Mine have a run set up in the shed, so they go in that for about 2 hours a day (give or take), but they get cuddles all through the day, whenever I pop out really! :smitten: :smitten:

You really need to invest in "The Guinea Pig's Slave's Number 1 Piece of Equipment" i.e. a towel (or even 2 or 3!)

I am about the same as you, mine get out on alternate days for a couple of hours and they are indoor piggies with an indoor run.

i get mine out every day. i dont always have the time to let them out for a run around, so when they do i let them free range for a few hours in the living room :)

bob and munchie do have a massive cage though, as does heath and merlin doesnt like free ranging. he prefers to make his own fun in his cage (hes easily amused) ::)

I leave the cage open for them whenever I'm home and then they can come and go as they please - I made a wee ramp for them so that they can get in & out alright. I make sure any wires etc are cornered off so that they can't get into them.

I wish I could just let my piggies have free range, unfortunately theres too many places for them to hide and be a nightmare to get them back and with the dogs on the prowl i cant let me down in the living for free range time and also outside we have too many damm cats which pee all over the garden, so they can't even go out there in the summer. The only place they go is the bedroom and the run stays in there too.

My Merlin free ranges every night from 6 - 10 (incs cuddle time) and all weekend when I am in

I am lucky in that he stays in the same place and never seems to get tempted to have a wonder about - although he has the run of the kitchen if he wants
He stays in his corner

At least a couple of hours each day. I have dogs, so don't ever have the dogs and guineas in the garden together, so this limits how long they can have. On a nice warm day like this my boar has been out on his own for 2 1/2 hours and the girls should be out the same length of time this afternoon.

Apart from the summer when they go outside in the run as much as possible, I only get the piggies out once a week to clean them out.

As long as possible in good weather. I put all cage lids on the grass and put them in that so they can all see one another (not the girls though I put them in a seperate area to the boys don't want no whinging for Gnasher Sunshine!) Tika Rabbit free ranges around the garden she frightened the window cleaner today! ;D He didn't know I had a bun and he thought she was a rat...cheeky! 98)
