Hey guys.

I've been working to diagnose what is going on with my one piggie who has been having growing hair loss for the past month or so. I've taken her to the vet, we've gone through many tests. We did skin scrapes, ringworm screens/lamp test, checked for mites, tried Revolution..nothing. It's just a growing spot on her back, not on her abdomen. On the back of her legs I can tell that it's barbared a little because it's all different lengths but on her back it's completely bald.

After researching for a while, I keep coming across the possibility of cysts. She doesn't seem to be bothered by me picking her up, other than the normal little dislike of having to be picked up, as guinea pigs have always done at some point for me. She's always been picky with her food, so it's hard to tell if that's changed & the doc thinks her weight is okay. I suppose that I should maybe just get an x-ray done of her to see if that's what's going on, but what does everyone think?

I have a pic of her hairloss, but I'll have to upload it later.
Thanks guys.

Just noticed tonight too that my little girl ALSO has a sudden crusty eye. Guess we're going to the vet again. It never ends!

My little girl has suffered with ovarian cysts for the last few years. She sometimes loses a little hair on her back and at the moment she has a very bald belly! The symptons vary and sometimes there are no symptons at all.

With her she can get hormonal in her behaviour (mounting the others or being generally quarrelsome) or she gets cystitis, however recently she had no symptons other than the hair loss on her belly. It could well be a cyst. Get your vet to check for this, some can feel it just by manually palpating that area, others like to scan. If it is cysts, then with my girl a simple chorulon injection, two, ten days apart usually solves the issue, my little girl's hair is growing back already after one dose.

I have also read somewhere on here that there is now a possible inplant you can have as well, mine's a little too old to have this now but may also be worth a consideration for you? I hope that this helps?
