Over weight Piggies

What is a normal weight for pigs around the 4-6 month mark? I feel like they eat sooo much and I am scared I am over feeding them. They are seeming to gain a lot of weight and almost look like they are developing a "double chin". But thier body is still slim and shaped nice.

I'm sure that someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the test for obesity in guinea pigs is that if their stomach drags on the ground when they walk (or otherwise interferes with their movements), then they may be overweight. My four month old sow weighs in at just shy of 2 pounds (1.98 pounds, to be precise), but some people have much smaller piggies at that age, and I'm sure some have bigger.

Actual weight varies hugely. As Rachel said, the rule I go by is if the belly touches or drags on the floor when the pig stands tall and walks, then they are overweight. Weekly weight checks and tracking will help you determine what is a normal weight for your piggie. Most piggies gain around 1-2 ounces a week until they are fully grown at 7-8 months.

Haha, all my boys have the double chin thing, even though they're not overweight. I like the way it wobbles when you stroke them under their chin

It does vary as been discussed already my 3 month old boar was 555g at last weigh in and my 6 month old sow was 735g.

You will get small pigs, thin pigs, big pigs but only very rarely will you get overweight pigs.
