Oxbow Essentials

Not long ago Oxbow changed their Cavy Cuisine to Essentials (Adult and Baby). I contacted them to ask what the difference was, and according to them the taste had not changed. A couple slight modifications had been made. If you feed Oxbow, have you had any problems with your pigs not wanting to eat it?

Two of my pigs randomly quit eating the Oxbow. After a few days of eating Kaytee Timothy Complete they would eat the Oxbow again (and are still eating it). I wasn't sure if it in fact had something to do with the changes in the food or just a picky pig. Do your babies like variety occasionally or do they stick to one food?

I am in the process of changing my girls over to Oxbow. I ended up with a bag of the old formula. I didn't know at the time about the Essentials. Oxbow has added Lignin Sulfonate to the new formula. It is the ninth ingredient. I think it might be used to bind the pellets together, but I don't know for sure. I will go look on the internet tonight, see what I can find out. I am adding a few of the Oxbow pellets to their other ones. So far they won't touch the Oxbow pellets and pick out the ones they are used to.
