although i'm usually firmly against buying animals from P@H, a few weeks ago, there was the most adorable little white abyssinian guinea pig, with big black eyes. i fell in love, and was told by my mom that i could buy her. so that she wouldn't be all alone, i took my boyfriend to the store to pick a piggle to come home too for his christmas present, as he adores guinea pigs. on my receipt it said:

guinea pig ... Pack of Two £24

does anybody else find that funny? i guess P@H really are JUST a business

unfortunately, that's what pet shops are..they're just a business..only in for the money

I went in yesterday and they had a big notice by one of the big pens saying 'Guinea-pigs £19 each or 2 for £24' I know guinea-pigs like company but I felt like they were doing it as a deal to get rid of 'old stock' that had come in before christmas. What made me even sadder was that there were only 2 guinea-pigs left in the pen, so I assume, as there's normally a lot of guinea-pigs in the pen that guinea-pigs had been bought.

in their defense, no, it's like this all year round. it's purely because it's very illadvised for guinea pigs to be bought and kept alone, and this way, people think 'oh, it's only an extra 5 pounds'...

on the downside, their pigs are kept on sawdust, and the little girl i bought for my boyfriend had an eye problem. it was sore, discharging, and she couldn't open it very wide. i called up to ask them what to do (as they should be obliged to pay vet bills), and they offered to buy her back. they eve said they wouldn't then reserve her for me for when she was better. poor little Molly. i refused to take her back. she's my beautiful little unique girl. she actually likes people. out of my 5 girls, she's the only one like that...

Like many have said unfortunately they see it as a business. You may find that you always find problems with pigs from p@h but not always, I try not to go there at all.

When i went last a girl bought two pigs which is good but they gave her a nero 3 for them both to live in! I felt like saying dont waste your money and buy the biggest one here like the nero 4 or the large rabbit cage. I think p@h should have more knowledge about their animals and that the pigs should only be sold in pairs and with a large cage. But then that would be a ideal world. In my local one ive never seen veg and they have one hidey between loads, small hay rack and they are on sawdust.

Urrrrgg! Guinea Pigs are not things! :o This is really annoying! But unfortunatley it's what Pet Shops do! I didn't realize you got receipts for animals....

I bought my hammy from P@H last March, I must admit, the man stood with me for a while telling me the do's and don'ts of looking after them, although I knew, I thought it was refreshing to get that from somewhere like that.

our local pets at home is amazing we got or piggies from the adoptions section. they were so strict and wanted to see a photo of the cage we were going to be putting them in. they went through everything in the finest of detail and generally seemed to care for the animals

I don't like pet shops, the owners are so paranowed sometimes!

Urrrrgg! Guinea Pigs are not things! :o This is really annoying! But unfortunatley it's what Pet Shops do! I didn't realize you got receipts for animals....

How else will you be able to return your merchandise unless you have proof of purchase? ( I am being dry and somewhat sarcastic.)
