Hey there, which social media pages would you recommend following? I’m particularly interested in ones that share practical tips for new owners. Would appreciate your suggestions! Thank you

Welcome to the forum

This forum has a wealth of information for owners (new and old).

The forum prides itself on being a friendly place to share advice and tips and we work hard to ensure all advice is accurate and up to date.
We can also provide ongoing support for any issues you may come up against

I cannot provide any recommendations for social media pages - I personally will not use them due to the misinformation they can contain.

This is our new owner guide

New Owners' Essential Information and Practical Tips Starter Collection

I only follow the guinea pig forum. There is everything here that you need to know. 😊

Hi and welcome

Our friendly and supportive forum is here for all the little and large questions you have and which will always be answered in a helpful and respectful way but we also have the most extensive information resource around. We also help owners through health crises and end of life/loss with moral support and practical advice on a personalised and ongoing basis.

Our information is based on our own just short of 20 years of collective forum experience and testing all the online information that is making the rounds there without ever having been questioned but a lot of which we had to debunk.
What has stood the test of time and the real life experience on this forum has gone into our very practical step-by-step guides, as have the answers to many regularly asked questions since we try not to skip over all the tricky bits where you would like precise how-to guidance most.
The guide format of our information resource means that we can update and add to them at need (or as we have spare time since we are all doing this for free in our own free time). Some of our personal ownership goes back over half a century.

You can access our guides collections via the link at the top of our New and Wannabe Owners Support Corner. All threads in the green fields and in the sub-sections of the Care Sections part of our forum are information guides.

You may want to bookmark the links to the collections (which are marked by titles in purple) whereas the guides themselves have titles in blue.

You already have been given the access link to our New Owners guide collection, which specifically tackles all the issues New Owners come up again plus some very helpful how-to information on starting out on the right foot and helping them to learn what is normal and what not.

This here is the link to our full information resource which is even more extensive. You won't find anything that comes close in quality and width elsewhere.

I avoid social media as it can be misleading and not always as well regulated as the forum.
We work hard to create a safe, respectful space for everyone who wants to be part of the forum.
Rudeness and disrespect are quickly dealt with and the information here is accurate.

Enjoy being part of this family of guinea pig lovers

Social media only reports what the poster wants you to hear or see. The photos are all perfect with no poop in the cage and the hay always perfectly placed. In real life there is poop everywhere and messy hay and in the case of my Queen of Floof Velcro Fur Miss Bramble, very likely poop, hay seeds, strands of hay and a few pellets in her fur somewhere too!
