I was just wondering how badly the smell of paint and creosote can affect my piggies.

Mum's on a DIY rant trying to fix everything in the house but I was worried about how it might affect the piggies. They're in the front room so away from most of it but I was thinking that maybe there's something I can do so they won't be to upset by it all.

They've been wrinkling there noses and ignoring me, until I offered them carrot which settled them down for awhile and the smell of creosote is almost gone but it's nasty for me so it must be horrible for them.

Thank you in advance for any comments.

It is preferable to house them elsewhere when the house is being painted. Ideally out of the house or on another level of the house e.g. as far away from the paint as you can, until the smell has gone.

If the smell is strong enough it's not good for piggies, I don't know what effect it could have on them but I wouldn't want to find out, especially with their stronger sense of smell. If you can't move them elsewhere, keep the windows open wide to let as much fresh air in as possible.

We usually move the guineas into their run whenever my mum is on her DIY mission. They only have little lungs so worth trying to move if possible. :)
