I've heard paper pellets are the best sort of bedding for my guineas but I cant find it anywhere :(
Any suggestions?

Sorry but dont even no what they are so they must not of been that good if you cant find them or i dont no what they are sorry ?

Theyre meant to be like compressed paper but if both of you havent heard of them then I better not use them. Do you have any good suggestions to alternative bedding? Right now I'm using hay or straw over wood shavings but I've heard bad thins about the wood shavings and I want to swap

ive heard of wood pellets but not paper pellets. pets at home sell the wood pellets if thats similar, but ive never tried it. i thought it may be a bit hard, as my piggies prefer bedding to snuggle in

I have seen a cat litter that is supposed to be paper based,It was like a hard paper pellet,I tried it for the cats litter tray and it ended up every where so never used it again

I think the wood based one would hurt their feet-its clean out day so I'm just going to use hay over newspaper for now but I will do more research next week. Thanks everyone! :)

I just bought some paper pellets today. I haven't been happy with any of the other beddings that I have tried so far. I am going to scrub the boy's cage down tomorrow morning and put down some paper pellets with some Carefresh on top of it. (I've still got some Carefresh, so I might as well use it up.)

Has anyone here used the paper pellets? If so, how did you like them?

Thank you, pelicano. :rose

Have you used either of them with your piggies?

Yes and, to be honest, if it worked out affordable, I'd probably use them for all my critters! At the moment, for the piggies I'm using a layer of newspaper, then Megazorb (which is cheap over here as long as you don't buy it online - I get it from a farm shop), then a layer of Finacard cardboard pieces. Aww... I said piggies there, and yet I only have one now. :(

For the hamster and spiny mouse, I'm using a combination of Carefresh and Finacard, because I really don't like Megazorb much. The large packs of Carefresh seem to be coming out cheaper than the paper pellets.

the only thing i can think of is biocatolet and yesterdays news... that is a recycled paper cat litter.. i used to use biocatolet when i used to keep rats... then changed and moved onto it was either tesco's or sainsburys own brand of paper based cat litter which was very similar to megazorb..(and cheaper)

I use finacard, the actual shreadded cardboard and am very happy with it. It gets topped with hay

Thank you, Purple. I have never seen this product. I don't think it's available in the *.S. It looks like a good product. I love how they are recycling paper and cardboard for animal litter.

Thank you for sharing your experience, pelicano. :rose

The cost of animal bedding really is an issue. I don't even want to think about how much money I have spent on bedding, and I have had my piggies less than two months!

Definitely. I have had my piggies on fleece before, which does cut down the cost a bit (although obviously washing costs have to be factored in!), but I'm not a big fan of it.

I just wish I could get other things locally in large quantities. It's absolutely mad to pay loads of shipping on such cheap products really, after all.

I tried fleece for two brief weeks. I actually liked it. But we have no washing machine, so fleece really isn't practical for us.

I agree -- it is totally crazy to have to pay tons of money for such simple, basic necessities.
