Hi I've got two 12 week old piggies. In the past couple of days one of them has seemed really lethargic, she's still eating and drinking a lot and looks fine (eyes bright and alert).she doesn't appear to be in pain and I can't see injuries. However she spends most of her time sitting and doesn't run away even when I try to catch her. This really isnt like her, shes normally very active and inquisitive. Any ideas why or if I should be worried?

I would have her checked out by a vet to see whether her heart is OK. It can be very frustrating when you as a good mummy pick up on something early before other symptoms become visible, but being suddenly quiet is not normal for a youngster at that age. I would recommend you to weigh her daily as opposed to weekly for healthy piggies as just watching a piggy eat can very deceptive.

Some of mine don't run away when approached, but this is very much a learned behaviour developed over time - they're just happy to be picked up.

It'd be unusual for such a young pig to be this willing to be handled - if it's been a sudden change, it'd be worth getting her checked out by an experienced vet - there's a vet locator at the top of the forum so you can find a recommended "cavy savvy" vet in your area.

Sometimes it pays to be paranoid!
