I've been watching Guinea Pig care routines on YouTube and noticed that some owners give their piggies Pea Flakes, for daily treats. I've heard that Pea Flakes contain an essential vitamin that piggies cannot make (like Vitamin C), called Lysine. I wanted to double-check before I purchased any. Are Pea Flakes safe to give piggies?

Yes, as an occasional treat! I get the JR pea flakes from amazon, 1kg for something like £8 and they’re probably gunna last me at least a year :))

Would once a week be okay? Or, should they be treated like Spinach... occasionally?

Yea once a week would be fine! That’s probably what I do, I put a pinch or so in some sort of game (like an egg box) mixed with hay and forage (the dried flower mixes you get). It keeps them busy for a while! :)

That's a good idea! Very creative.

My Luna is obsessed with pea flakes. She knows where they are kept under the cage and will sit near them begging. She gets 2 or 3 once or twice a week. Ginny will eat one but then not bother.

My girls love them and have never had any issues. My personal issue is cost.

I'm going to try a YouTube recipe. Anyone make their own?

I never thought about making my own. I'm going to look up some recipes.
