BIG HUGS

A sudden death that you cannot brace for really shake you up badly.

Unfortunately, guinea pigs of all ages can die out of the blue from a heart attack, acute heart failure or a stroke. They kind of live with a genetic bomb in their body that can go off at any time. There is nothing you can do. What has happened is NOT your fault and there is nothing you have done. :(

Have you considered ringing a free pet bereavement line? A fair number of countries now have them. A number of forum members struggling to cope with their own loss have found that talking to somebody who understands is trained to listen and is confidential can really help them to feel calmer and better in themselves. Especially when you can't stop crying, talking is the best way to get over it.

Has your piggy a friend? Here are tips on what you can do: Looking After A Bereaved Guinea Pig

We have got a Rainbow Bridge section for those that wish to post a tribute to a beloved piggy of theirs at some point that feels right for them. Since we all grieve differently, there is no pressure to post and there is no time limit.

So sorry for your loss.
Crying is an important part of grieving and you need to be kind and gentle with yourself as you grieve.
What you feel is a normal reaction to loss because you loved your piggy.
Grief takes time - you will cope - just take a day at a time.

Sending you hugs. I am so sorry to hear of the death of your piggy Peaches. When we lose one of our loved pets it is very very hard to come to terms with, they leave such a big hole in our hearts.

So sorry to learn that Peaches has now gone to the Rainbow Bridge. My heart goes out to you. To lose a piggie suddenly isn't nice and there is nothing you could have done to prevent it. She is now running zoomies with all her new friends.
