Be sure to keep him away from dust particles, so make sure the hay is good quality and if he's on shavings perhaps take him off them whilst he has the respiratory infection.
Syrpalta is obviously a coughing syrup in the US? I have not come across it.
Please make sure that your piggy is warm. Weigh it daily to make sure that it is not losing weight; URI is often accompanied by loss of appetite. If necessary, hand feed; but very carefully with such a young piggy, so nothing ends up in the congested lungs. It is vital to keep the guts going and the weight up as much as possible.
If you can, please get hold of some probiotic, either from your vets, a pet shop or the internet. You can mush up good quality pellets if you don't have recovery food, like Oxbow.
As Wiebke said...keep warm and comfortable, weigh daily so if there's any sudden weight losses you can get to the vets and ask for more advice.
Make sure no breezes/drafts either....
How's little Peanut going today? has he been eating and taking his meds for you? x)
Peanut is doing much better! He is acting like a normal piggie that isn't sick. He is only sneezing. He has also figured out the meds are getting in his mouth one way or another and is willingly taking the meds. He eats more at night and gets plenty of sleep. He is also playing with the apple sticks I put in his mini cage. Nine more days till we go back to the vet!
