I don't know how the only thing I can assume is they are peeing on there fur. Obviously it can't be comfortable for the girls to have wet bums all the time I was thinking it may cause an infection. Do you think it would be a good idea to trim there skirt so to speak?

I know nothing, but agree it can't be comfy for them so I would be inclined to give them a wee haircut around the offending area :)

Yep trim it off.

My peruvians are the same and it's a pain. I didn't do them for a few weeks as I've been too busy and they both look manky now being white around that area, they need a bath and a trim.

i would definetely give them a trimand also maybe bath them and clean them out more often. it may not be their own pee but just the fact that it hasn't been cleaned out enough and there is so much that it just rubs back onto the bums.:Ayociexp121:

My pigs are on fleece and the fleece is always dry, so it's not how often I clean them. My pigs are kept very clean. They are also in my room, so if they were stinking it wouldn't be pleasant for me, never mind them.

ok then well maybe just bath them a bit more

I bathe my pigs once every month!

I know many people with peruvians have the same issue, their hair is long enough that it can be under them while they wee hence the suggestions to cut their hair.

Both myself and Joanne take great care with our guinea pigs. Feeding, grooming, bathing etc.

Not too happy with the comments about our hygiene standards.

sorry,:( i didn't mean to sound rude I'm ten and I'm just trying to help

Okay no worries. Lets just put it behind us. :) No hard feelings

Long haired pigs are a pain and get dirty much quicker than short hairs.

It's good that you thought of the obvious things. Means you're getting to know the basic care of guinea pigs. :)

Joanne- I think you're right to think about giving them a trim. We want before and after pics though. :) Am thinking I may have to do the same to Delilah if her hair keeps growing. She looks like she's wearing baggy trousers at the moment. :))

My coronet girlies get wet, widdly bums - very annoying, dosent seem to matter how often they're cleaned out and bathed. I've resorted to trimming them nice and short in that area and they keep much fresher now :)

Teresa xx
