hi everyone ! nothing too serious as it doesn’t seem to be affecting him, just something i would much prefer to get rid of, but my pig has been sleeping in pee and therefor has red burn marks on his hind legs . he’s walking and acting fine it just looks very sore, the thing is he has a lot of different hideous and i clean the cage more than often to try prevent him from sleeping in it too much but it’s not going away or stopping . what can i do ? if i can get a picture i will add it

@PigglePuggle may be able to help.
Her Jezebel likes to sleep in her wee too.
Piggies are much less fussy about where they sleep - it’s nothing to do with how often you clean the cage

Hi!

You can find tips on treating urine scald in this guide here (chapter 4): Looking after guinea pigs with limited or no mobility

You may want to have him vet checked in a case he has a urination/bladder problem and otherwise try to spot clean the area he sleeps in daily or to change the cosy daily.

after reading through i can see bum baths are something i can do yet he is very skittish n still very timid, only at most letting me stroke his nose occasionally, is there any ways without having to go up to him, n wipe him since i’m pretty sure he’d panic a lot or should i just do it anyway (which is something i don’t really want to do)

Use our piggy whispering tips and be tough - it is likely going to be something that you will have to do regularly. If you are kind, but firm and supportive with lots and encouragement and fuss, then you can get him through it. and as he is going to feel better afterwards, he will accept it eventually.

As often as necessary - it depends how quickly he soils himself. A gentle wipe with a damp rag daily will do in extreme cases where a piggy cannot clean itself. I would recommend to check him daily and treat as needed. Hopefully the sores will heal and with regular checks and care, the problem won't become as bad again.

I find that when my piggies get older they move around a lot less. If they have hidies that they use a lot, I make sure that I move them around a couple of times a day so they're not sitting in the same place for too long

thank you ! my pigs aren’t that old, id say adult in piggie (almost 3!) so they’re still active but they do love a lil rest most the time, i’ll start moving their hidies more (i do once a day but i’ll start more !)
