Hello!
So I've been noticing some new trends in regards to pellets and was wondering if anybody had any opinions.
The first is that people are saying you should feed unlimited pellets and that there is no such thing as an overweight pig because they can lose weight so quickly when they are sick and they need the reserves.
The second is to cut pellets completely out of the diet because they should only be eating hay.
I don't really agree with either of these recommendations, but how does everybody else feel?

I would be concerned an overweight guinea pig could get health problems earlier, but then there's a bit overweight and then there's very overweight.

1 tablespoon of pellets, per guinea pig, per day is what is reccomended to feed on here, and that's what I feed. One of my pigs doesn't even eat them.

Pellets are like junk food to guinea pigs, hence the keeping to one tablespoon as stated above.

Although they are fortified with additional nutrients and vitamins, these are also present in hay/grass and veg. So they’re not so much a must like hay.

I would rather my piggies ate lots of hay and a varied veggie diet than a lot of pellets. My two have such few pellets each day anyway

Okay I agree as well, I feed limited pellets and they mostly eat hay. Thanks guys!
