After a VERY long weekend of giving Critical Care, Penny finally seems to be improving. I noticed Friday night her poo's were a little abnormal and I figured the trip to the vet had stressed her out and that's why she didn't want to eat. By Saturday it was evident the antibiotic she was on were wreaking havoc on her gut but the vet had already closed for the weekend so Penny and I got to struggle through the Critical Care together. At first she loved taking it and I didn't have to hold her at all, but after a few doses she had decided she had had enough of the syringe feeding and Penny can be VERY stubborn when she wants to be mallethead After several different attempts (and a lot of mess!) I finally figured out a system that works for the both of us and she grudgingly took the Critical Care. Had a call into the vet on Monday for some probiotics but we got hit bad by some thunderstorms and the vet lost power so I couldn't get the probiotic until Tuesday evening, but it seems to already be working. She's been munching on some hay and just generally seems brighter and more alert so I'm hoping the worst is behind us now! :)

Glad to hear it, bad luck about the thunder storms though. The UK has been feeling pretty muggy and pants recently and alot of my friends have been dying for a good thunder storm just to clear the air up. We should be careful for what we wish for!

Fingers crossed her recovery is smooth and easy going :) Critical care is just the best isnt it!

I'm glad she is doing better now. I know how much of a struggle syringe feeding can be l. I only had to do it for one night and as it got to the point she was pooing for herself she was pinching the syringe and chucking it with her teeth. I was just happy to see her a bit more lively than she was early that evening.

Fingers firmly crossed that she continues to get better! Antibiotics can hit the guts hard; good that you could work through it, even though it was a messy battle!

Oh great she is doing well. Syringe feeding is a nightmare. I am hopeless at it.

She's not eating again this morning, but she's only had one dose of the benebac so I'm hopeful that after her second dose she'll perk up again.
