Not really sure if this should go here.
Penny has been home for about 1.5 hours after her c-section (she had 4 babies. 1 severly deformed (was dead before it was born) and the other 3 died shortly after birth). She has eaten some hay and veggies. I have put a warm (not hot) hot water bottle covered in a towel in her cage as suggested by the vet. I have started a new thread, because I can't look at the other one without getting upset. She has antibiotics that I have to give her for the next 5 days, and then she's got to go back to see the vet again.
I just thought I'd start this so I can keep people updated on how she is doing post c-section.

Thanks. I'm going to have a read through them. I'm kinda an emotional wreck whenever I see her. She's so little now.

Today (now she's home):

I didn't think she'd look that skinny. She looks really undeweight compared to Luna.

Poor girl! I hope that with your love and good care she will pull through and hopefully have a very good life from now on.

It brings home how much a pregnancy takes out of a girl, doesn't it? :(

Definately.

So far she is eating well. I don't think I'll be getting much sleep tonight. I'll be getting up every hour to check on her.

Poor little Penny, one positive is that now she is not nourishing the babies her body will get all the goodness from her food.

If healing vibes and good wishes work she will be well in no time - come on Penny!

Suzy x

Aw bless - My eyes are filling up. Sending all the love in the world!

x

Well I am checking on her every 30-60 minutes, and each time I see her I get tearful. She just looks so tiny. I wonder if she is aware of everything she has been through today.
I've separated her from Luna for the time being. Luna seems so lost without Penny around.
Penny seems to be moving around quite a bit. Not a lot, but she's not just sat in a corner doing nothing. This is a good sign right?

oh my gosh, what a difference in size, poor baby, sending her massive healing vibes.

Thinking of you xx :)

Aww bless her, poor little sweetheart what a trauma for you both. Hope she gets better soon, sending healing vibes. x>>

Poor little thing... she's been through a lot! It's great that she's moving around and eating... having had abdominal surgery myself, it hurts and you generally don't want to do that much! So I think that's a good sign for her. I hope she makes a speedy recovery! I'm sorry about the loss of the babies but really hope the mom thrives in spite of it!

I am so tired. I've been waking up every hour or so to go and check on her. Each time I do, she's at the hay ball, munching away. Bless her. Hopefully she'll soon put some weight on. I think it is just a shock to see how small she is minus babies, because she was quite big. I know you can see in the picture the difference in size, but it looks so different in person. Even when I got her I don't think she was that small.

Should I weigh her regularly to make sure she doesn't lose any weight? I'm really scared to move her, but I want to make sure that she is putting some weight on.

Thank you all for the healing vibes :)) She is getting so much loce and attention now shes home. Luna seems very lonely though. She came out for a cuddle yesterday for 3.5hours :)) she loved it. Went exploring under/over blankets etc. She's such a sweetie. I can tell that not being with Penny 24/7 is going to take some adjustment for her. Do you think it'll be easy for me to re-introduce them?

Gosh yes you can see a big difference!
It's wonderful that she's moving around and munching away x)
As for rebonding, read thru Wiebke's hints (i'll pop the link on for you) and everyone's comments :)
Try to get some sleep love XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Yes i'd weigh her regularly to make sure she's doing ok. I normally weigh weekly unless a piggie is unwell and then daily or even before and after feeds. Because of what she's been thru maybe leave her for a day? Not sure........ i'm sure somebody can help you there :)

RIP Mini's 8...8...8...

HEALING WHEEEEEEEEEEEKS AND LITTLE LOVES FOR PENNY XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I would definitely say that is a good sign. She needs to get back to normal now and build up her strength. She will be popcorning again before you know it :))

Keep your chin up :)

x

I teared up looking at the pics :(
I hope she makes a quick recovery and can be reunited with Luna soon xx

Penny seems quite bright today :)) Managed to get her to crawl into a box to weigh her. She's only around 487g.
Here is a picture from 10 minutes ago. I know it sounds crazy, but she really seems to have put a bit of weight on. It's probably because she was eating whenever I checked on her last night. Or am i just imagining it? I really hated seeing her so small and skinny yesterday.

That second picture, she looks so skinny :( poor girl 8... but that new picture, she's looking a lot better! Maybe dehydrated last night too?

Glad shes brighter today, sending more vibes xx

Didn't think about that. It could be that she was dehydrated. She's been drinking quite a bit this morning.

Oh my, that second picture she looks tiny. Glad she's okay though, looking much better i those pictures today x

Penny seems to be a little quiet this afternoon. I think she may be in a bit of pain (only have antibiotics not painkillers or anything). I am so proud of her though. She hasn't nibbled at or pulled out any of her stitches (I really hope she doesn't). She's still eating/drinking well, but she isn't as active (she is still moving around, but not as much as yesterday).

I am really lucky that they managed to save her. Still gutted about the babies, but I need to get Penny well now. Even though I was getting quite excited about the babies, I think the whole experience has made me realise just how risky a pregnancy is for a very young piggy. So happy she is okay though. Things are looking good for her at the moment :)) So fingers crossed!

Might be worth getting her back on the pk's if it helps her to feel better, it's been such a stressful time for her also, going to sleep with babies inside waking up without, she'll be effected by that I suppose too..

Penny seems okay today. She was so good when I had to give her the antibiotics (you should have seen her yesterday. Took ages to get her to take it). I also weighed her and she has put on 12-15g since yesterday.
I am so proud of her! She has been through so much, and she seems to be acting like nothing much has happened.

I am keeping my fingers firmly crossed for her!

Poor little girl :( I'm so sorry to hear about the trouble you had. I know losing the babies must be hard but at least you didn't lose Penny too. Keeping everything crossed for her recovery

Penny is off to the vets this afternoon for her check-up. I think she's recovering quite well, but we'll see what the vet says.
She is now 505g. She hasn't put much weight on, but she hasn't lost any either which is good. Yesterday when I went to give her her veggies, she was squeaking so loud! I'm really glad she's starting to act like herself again :))

Bless her, i have been followingher story, she looks much better in that recent picture compared t the one of her the day she came home, good luck at the vets and give her a kiss from me xx
