Some of you may have read my previous thread about having to take my Penny piglet to the vet when she developed a head tilt. The vet couldn't see anything in the ears and thought that maybe she had an inner ear infection so she gave Penny some baytril and metacam. That was a week ago today and I've noticed that she only tilts her head when she's eating. She still does it even after a week of meds but that's the only time I notice her ever tilt her head. I'm going to weigh her after her lunch to see if she's lost any weight (haven't weighed her since her vet visit) but she seems to still be eating and drinking normally. I was just wondering if her head tilt could be a symptom of a dental problem?

It would certainly not hurt to check her back teeth. whether there is a direct link, I cannot say.

She has a recheck with the vet next week so hopefully we can get to the bottom of all of it. She eats fine and everything, she's only lost about 30g from last Thursday, she just doesn't seem completely like herself. Just kind of quiet lately, although that could just be me worrying about her so much.

Gee, the poo's could be a number of things, I would make sure she is drinking enough water, they look a bit dehydrated. Are you giving her a probiotic? It could also be a reaction to the batytril. If it continues I would have the vet do a fecal smear, benebac or a nondairy acidophilus as soon as possible would be my thinking. I would go for the benebac. You can get it from the vet and I think someone said amazon has it.

Took Penny back to the vet today, teeth and throat look fine but she has some raspiness going on so she's going on a different antibiotic. She seems to be drinking enough but I think the stress of the vet visit this morning has really taken it out of her, she wanted very little to do with her veggies when I fed her. Vet thinks it's a deep inner ear infection/inflammation. I just hate that she's not eating her veggies, I'm just hoping it's because of all the stress from this morning...she's napping right now.

No xray, that'll probably be the next step if nothing improves. Vet wants me to call on Monday with an update. Her poo's are definitely abnormal now, probably from dehydration and lack of food. I've been syringe feeding her some water just to get some into her and I'm going to start with some critical care today just to get things moving. She's still eating, just not as much as she normally does. I'm hoping these meds kick in soon and my little girl starts feeling better, i'm so worried:(

I am sorry she is not eating. It is a worry. Get better soon little one.
