Wizzy
Junior Guinea Pig
wanted to make a post about my favourite guinea pig in the entire world who passed last night. Pepper has been with me since 2015 and has had several cage mates and then spent the last year just us (as she was obviously getting quite old and seemed happy with our company, i spent everyday with her!).
She had a stoke last summer but i nursed her back to health and she was still very happy. just before christmas when i got back from uni i realised that she was nearing the end - went from over a kg to only 800g over a couple months.
After many vet visits and scans we could only find a slightly inflamed bladder. There wasn’t much we could do other than give metecam for her arthritis, syringe food to keep her weight up and lots of cuddles.
On Friday evening she was very sleepy and not eating. Was spitting out the syringe food and didn’t even want cucumber.
I think possibly the worst part is that i wasn’t there to say goodbye, as living at uni meant i could only wait to hear updates.
i genuinely can’t put into words how much Pepper changed my life. Many of my friends thought i was mad for loving a guinea pig so much but would all fall in love with her eventually just as i did!
My boyfriend even would come over just to see Pepper & look after her whilst i was away.
Once we took her to a small holiday boarding place and the owner told us she was the friendliest guinea pig she had ever met.
I’ll miss her squeaks for food and her lil kisses, and cuddles while watching a film. She always loved to bury her head in my hair (and ate a chunk of it once!)
i’m in complete bits writing this, she was without a doubt the coolest guinea pig ever and i have no idea what to do without her. x x x
