Are they allowed peppers? Do they like them?

Peppers are a great food for your piggies, they are really high in vit C.

Our girls love them, just make sure you remove the seeds and white pith as this can be hot. We give each of them a 4cm square bit every day.

Thanks. What colour is the best one?

According to Treacle red, cookie yellow, Putt (RIP) green. Megan won't eat them.

I believe green is lower in sugar so maybe best - we just give different colour everyday for variety - they all get ate.

sadly my boys don't like peppers of any colour, have tried them over and over again and they never get eaten :o(

Good luck with yours

Any colour can be fed - mine prefer green over red and then yellow or orange.
One slice a day takes care of the vitamin C need. Alternatively, give a bit of broccoli or some parsley, but neither of the latter should be given daily. Medium veg, like a bit of cabbage (sweetheart or spring greens) and fresh coriander together can also do the trick.

Give about 1 cupful/50g of mixed veg per piggy per day. Up to 80% of the daily food intake should be hay to keep the guts working at their best and the crucial back teeth ground down evenly.

Here is a list of what veg they can have - it is actually quite a lot!

Red is the highest in Vit C, and it the sweetest tasting.
Green is the lovest in Vit C, and the least sweet tasting.
Orange and yellow rank somewhere inbetween.
My piggies both will any of them, i think their fave is read tho.

Mine won't touch green, but will eat the others.

However Poppy pig will only eat yellow for a while, then will only eat red for a while, then only orange for a while - I throw more away than she eats but the others make up for it rolleyes

Actually I don't blame them not eating green - I think they are awful and bitter but I don't mind green chillis (which of course the piggies DON'T have!)

They love green pepper and ate a whole one between them yesterday. But they won't touch red for some reason!

Ive only recently tried mine with peppers and they cannot get enough of them. Peppers are now their favourite food out of everything.

To make a boredom breaker / toy, I cut the pepper up, slicing from top to bottom (put the first cuts / ends of the pepper to one side) you should then be left with circles. If there are any seeds or bits from the middle of the actual pepper itself attached to the centre of the circle, just cut these off.

Once you have several pepper circles, thread these over a piece of string. Tie one end of the string to the corner of the cage and then tie the other end of the string to the opposite corner of the cage. Let the string sag a little in the middle, otherwise the hanging peppers will be too high up for your piggies to reach.

Then sit back and watch them have lots of fun :))

Mine love red peppers but will not eat the green ones. I am the same, can't stand the green ones!

They've now eaten their red pepper but they much prefer green :)
