Hi all, hope your doing ok, sorry to those that have lost piggies recently.
I’ve had perky since January and he seems very uncomfortable out of his enclosure, I put hides in the playpen and he won’t come out, tonight I got him and his friend out with nothing but me in the playpen and pinky was at ease but perky no way, just freezes and runs around scared, he almost cleared the playpen but I managed to stop him as I was right next to him, any ideas? All other piggies I have enjoy play time and having a good zoomie and popcorn but perky no. Thanks in advance

Some piggies are a lot more cautious than others. It just means ge has strong prey animal instincts, which in the wild would be saving his life.
If you could put some kind of cover over the playpen, or at least over one end that should help. I would put in various open sided hidy places so he can both feel protected and be able to see whats going on at the same, such as little plastic stools and avoid using things like little huts. Also scstter hay around and bits of his favourite food to tempt him out. Herd him into a tunnel or something when transferring him back out of the play pen so he doesn't associate bring in the pen with then being caught. It will also take time but he should slowly gain confidence.

Yeah I’ve had covers over corners, tubes, tunnels, cardboard boxes with four exits, he won’t go in a cuddle sack, I have a fleece tunnel in his cage which I have to use to transfer him to playpen, I’ve had piles of hay in playpen and few bits of veggies but he still will not popcorn or zoomie unless he’s in his cage, maybe he will become more confident as he gets older, love them no matter what thanks

Does the playpen have wire sides or solid? Solid sides can help them feel more secure, so surrounding it with cardboard might help
