I have a long haired piggy, unless I keep her hair super, super short eg short back and sides she has a permanent wet butt. Is this normal?

I don't think it's normal :hmm: my pigs have never had wet buns, but Pinky's bum tends to smell of wee quite a bit and he has longer hair. Perhaps take her to the vets? How often are you changing the bedding?

Maybe she's spraying her wee?! I would get an appointment though, there might be an underlying issue.

also my long haired piggies have the back often wet, but the fur is wet (and dirty of wee), not the butt which is dry and normal. They sometimes move backwards one second before weeing, hence the long fur goes between the legs and under their butt. For this reason here we are recommended to wash regularly that part of fur, if necessary. It happens also when the fleece is not of a good quality: I have a little piece of a bad fleece which I sometimes use for covering the newspapers into a hidey they use during their floor time. When there is this fleece in use or when my piggies go and sleep under a certain towel in contact with the floor, their fur becomes wet because they sleep and wee on the floor. If they stay into their cage with newspapers covered with the good fleece their fur is rarely wet.
I think also your piggie only needs a daily butt wash, or better: a daily fur wash (a fast wash with a bit of delicate soap) only in that part of the body.
A long fur needs a special care and if the piggie has the habit to wee on it, you need to wash it even once a day...
this is the very long hair of my dirty piggie...who loves so much weeing on her fur:(

Mine get wet butts when they remove the fleece that I pop in the beds to wick their wee away. One of mine likes to rearrange her nest. It drives me potty!

But I would see your vet re a uti - which was the first thing I did when they started doing this (my old boar would lie in wee on hot days - we saw the vet a lot).

Jingle and Mistletoe always have damp skirts at the back when their fur begins to get long. I chop off all the wet bits, not something that they enjoy but needs must!
