As we are away Easter week I had booked pet boarding last November to know I had a boking secured. The last boarding I use was not ideal as they had lots of ferrets and I think Monty was scared of them, so trying somewhere different this time.

I went to visit last night to sort paperwork and money, trouble is the are mainly dog daycare/dog care so they only have one hutch for Leo the rabbit, so got to take one of the guinea hutches over for Monty (but good he will have his own hutch)

They would be in their own secure fenced off garden so not near any dogs.

My friend could of come over twice a day at home to feed them, but she wouldnt be able to put Leo in his run and Id not want him being left out all day with no supervision. I couldnt leave him stuck in his hutch all week or leave Monty without his daily cuddles!

I feel happy about who they are being left with, she is really nice and home based a lot, and my 2 are the only bookings that week, but Its a pain having to get my Dad to drive us over there and to fit the hutch in the car.

Mum did say about taking Monty with us, but we could not fit a hutch in the car and he is not use to living indoors or a cage instead of a hutch.

Its something Id consider for future holidays, buying a cage/inside home to take him with us...just not sure how he would adapt to it, was never an option before as we had our dog then.

I was thinking of getting a rescue pair after Easter but we might be going away again June/July so Id really need to find somewhere nearer and with their own hutches as Id not want Dad to do 2 1 hour round trips with hutches.

Anyone know of anywhere in the Stourbridge/Kidderminster/Bromsgrove area for future pet boarding? Dad will drive me and the pets up to about 20-30 mins away and I'm 3 miles from Stourbridge.

Thanks Alison

i know the feeling, as i run a rescue and foster for the RSPCA i have too many pets to ship out and so decided to to pay a pet sitter to come in everyday.

Easy you think,NO i got loads of numbers from people advertising at the vets, i emailed a few and they never got back to me which i hate so wouldn't give them the buisness even if they did now. All the others had stopped doing it or said they were busy.

I think there must be a gap in the market for pet sitting and wish someone local would set one up!

hi Alison. I'm not a pet boarding or anything but I'm in the bromsgrove area and could help out with looking after your pets while your away if you needed. I have a few spare cages and also some c&c grids i could put together for them while they were here. Just an idea for if you ever need it (obviously i wouldnt charge either would just want there food so i didnt change there diet). PM if you ever want to :) xx

If I was closer to you Chez, I would take you up on the offer :) I am quite lucky as when we go away for the weekend or long weekend my neighbour comes round and feeds them. When we went back home over christmas and February half term and Connie was on antibiotics (she still is but hopefully not for much longer) we took them with us. Fair enough, the cage isn't that ideal as it's on the small side and they had to go in my parents spare room and they live in our out building here but it did the cause. When we get married in August, we are taking them back to my parents for a few days and then when we go away on honeymoon for 4 nights, my neighbour will be taking care of them. Luckily they live in a fairly big hutch but I wouldn't want them staying in there for more than 3 - 4 days without coming out. I'm sure that my neighbour would put them in their run as he has offered before but they are elderly and I wouldn't want any accidents! They have also offered to give Connie her antibiotics but again, I prefer to do it myself. There is a small animal hotel a few miles from here but luckily I haven't had to use them. It is nice to no that there is one available if needed.

I'm willing to guinea sit for anyone near where I live on Merseyside. Although I work I can always find time to help anyone in need of a sitter! & often go to my mums & sisters to feed thier cats when they are away. I don't have spare hutches but you could bring them over if you want me to look after them at my home I have a decent sized garden with a patch of grass thats left long for my guineas to chomp at whilst they're in their run.

There is! Id love to do some boarding but I'm out at work 8-5 Mon to Fri and out a lot at weekends and dont think my parents would want a garden full of hutches! I think Its too big a responsibility at the moment, but Id happily look after a few furries for anyone local/on here if they could be dropped off and collected and brought their accomodation!

Thank you so much for that offer, I might well be in touch if we ever go away again this year:) We can get one hutch in the estate for Leo bunny as he likes to be outside, I'm sure Monty would adapt to being inside and loves lots of fuss!

If you wouldnt want any money I could donate some to a rescue of your choice instead as I'm always happy to pay for pet boarding, when a local lady who use to run a small guinea rescue looked after the guineas once we paid her in sacks of guinea food instead!

I know my friend would be happy to pop round and feed them in their hutches, but I know Monty would miss the daytime snacks/treats as my Mum pops out to him several times whilst I'm at work with nice treats. Monty is not too fussed with much run time but I know I could not leave Leo for a week stuck in his hutch - he really would hate not being in his run, not fair on him.

If I go away for the weekend my Mum is happy to feed/fuss the 2 and will put Leo out in his run daily.

We went away one July and it was hight 80's/90's heatwave - luckily the boarding place I used then was wonderful - fans on the hutches, shaded areas, and the lady was about all day to keep a check on them, so I did not need to worry, she text me to say she had been out to get extra fans to keep them cool:) Its a shame she is taking a break from boarding as that was great!

Thank you again for the nice offer x

Hi, I've been using the "Fur-Inn" by Coventry Airport for my guinea pigs for several years now - but that is probably too far away for you!

Good luck with your search! It's not easy to find a good place in theis region.

pigs on holiday

Have you looked at Jessica's Pet Hotel? Not used them personally but worth a look I would have thought. Just google them.

I always offer to have any adopted guinea pigs from here back on holidays provided we have space, two coming in at 4.30pm today as luck would have it. Its also nice to have them back to see how they are progressing and i find that within half an hour the majority remember where they are.
