Hi I know it is long shot but does anyone know some good , checked and reliable pet boarding place for our two Guinea pigs in south Devon? Ideally Torbay ?

You could try your vets. They sometimes have lists of reliable pet boarding services.

Try a local piggy rescue, they often board to raise funds for the rescue. There is a rescue locater on the forum.

That’s great news. Leave instructions for food, your vet details and give her an idea of amounts of hay and pellets she should give. Have a great time on holiday x

Also as a bit of advice, take a deep breath and realise that the pet sitter may not follow all your instructions, so emphasise the important bits like hay and water! My daughter is piggy sitting for us next week and I know she feeds them too many apples, the piggies know her as "apple lady" because she loves apples and takes a bite then if a piggy wheeks she gives them half an apple. This is not good. But its what she does every time, the piggies trick her with their hungry wheeking! Preparing their veg for a few days pre-chopped in tupperware can help. Or maybe not. But emphasising the "hay and water first" plus the emergency vet number are the key points!

:agr: when my mum looks after mine ... she is also tricked into the ' we are starving give us more veggies '.... and doesn't give enough hay.... I always say they can go without veggies for a day but NOT hay! I type a list out with pictures of how much veg to give lol! One day she might follow it :mal:

Last time I went away for 3 nights I left 6 labelled tupperware boxes "morning" and "evening" with chopped veg... lasted 1 day "because they were hungry" then it switched to half an apple per pig per meal... they were fine except gaining 60g per piggy in 3 days then having to endure a strict "lettuce cucumber pepper and hay only no pellets" diet for a week afterwards, but its only 2 or 3 days once or twice a year, and last time I inquired about official piggy boarding I was told my request for a minumum of 18 sqft space for 6 piggies was "excessive" and 12 sqft would do! Like hell it would when they have 26 sqft at home, war would break out! Can you imagine 6 spoilt opinionated adult piggies in a 12sqft cage?!
