I've decided (well re-decided after a failed attempt before) that I don't want to buy from pet shops that sell animals anymore.

There is a pet shop literally a two minute walk from my house that fits the bill, but they don't sell the food I use for the piggies or buns and recently they have stopped selling larger packs of hay so it started getting expensive.

I found another pet shop where the hay is reasonably priced but they sell animals :(

So I went on yell.com and there are two others only a quick drive away - one I apparently drive past whenever I visit my parents, how come I've never seen it before?/
I want to go and have a look in them but I'll feel embarrassed if they don't sell what I want and probably end up buying something anyway:red

Have you approached the shop close to you to ask if they would order in the larger bags of hay and the kind of food you feed just for you? It might just be a case iof them adding those in every now and again on their order to their supplier.

Let them know why you wish to support their business etc also. You never know!

I was going to suggest asking if they could order it in. Dont feel embarassed about going into a new place and just looking, if someone speeks to you just go straight ahead and ask if they sell what you are looking for or if they can order it in otherwise. Worse that they can do is say no :)

I normally phone the pet shop first and ask if they have the product I'm looking for, but then by doing that i suppose you wont know if they sell animals.

What the range? My local one dosent sell animals just the food etc.

:)

We've got one but it's on the same industrial estate as the pet shop I was going to lol so still got the travelling. Oooh I do love The Range, and it's next to Dunelm Mill too:red

I'm going to pop along to the pet shop round the corner tomorrow and ask whether they can get bigger hay in or not :)) Not sure if they will though I asked them about getting SS in once as they sold the SS bunny but they said no :(

I don't like going to new places either, especially if I might be the only person in there. I looked up the local feed suppliers and either phoned them or sent an e-mail and asked if they stocked my usual feed/ bedding and the price. I then felt ok when I went in as I knew they had what I wanted and could also have a good nosey at what else I might want to buy. :)

our local pet shop orders in stuff for us - most are happy to do so - means you are a guaranteed customer!
