Should I get a grass seed kit to grow grass for my piggies or should I get a bag of grass seed? I’ve got containers I could grow it in but I wouldn’t need very much grass at a time

@PigglePuggle grows grass for her herds so that Lady Piggle can phone up and order her grass takeaway and alarm call Tallulah can enjoy some fresh grass. So I'm sure PigglePuggle will be able to let you know what she uses.

I buy big trays and seeds separately as you get a lot more for your money. These are the grass seeds I have had the most success with, they are quick growing and recover well after the piggies feast!
Italian Ryegrass Green Manure Seeds
I can’t seem to find that in the US and the only bags of rye grass seed I can find are like 20-50 lbs :(

Could I use the whole oats I buy for my potbelly pig to grow oats for the guinea pigs? And then grow some grasses as well?

I bought a bag of "pet friendly" grass seed from Amazon and some small window boxes to plant it in. I bought clover and coriander seed and nasturtiums too and planted a mixture. I tried shallow compostable trays but the roots came through the bottom and the grass never got very big so I have 15-18cm deep, 10-15cm wide 30-40cm long plastic windowbox planters now. These have the advantage that the piggies cant reach all the way in to dig up and the roots (yes I'm talking to you Blodwen pig the plough faced grass wrecker) so once the grass is nibbled off or you cut some, pop it back outside and it regrows in about 3 weeks then they can eat it again!

If I put it by a window in my room would it grow? I could also get a plant light if needed cause I can’t put it outside cause of stray cats
