pet stores selling live animals

Hello, i’ve started a petition on change.org to petition the sale of live animals because A few months ago i bought a “male” guinea pig from petco and we were so happy with “him” so we got another male guinea pig a few months later. We were so happy with how they were bonded. We then found out about a local rescue that does health checks, so we brought them over to both get one. We then find out that not only do both guinea pigs have ringworm, but our older “male” guinea pig is actually a female and pregnant! We love them so much but we’re not expecting to take on that big of a responsibility! We then learned that this happens so frequently to so many people. It’s truly upsetting to hear the horror stories that people experience. I would like to stop the selling of guinea pigs and other small animals at pet stores. They don’t have the knowledge that they should have about these amazing animals. Please if you can take a moment to help me with this problem that more people should be aware of, that would be great! I agree with the petition it's so sad u know we don't have any rescues or adoption houses which gives guinea pigs so we have to buy them from pet shops and most of the time pet shops feed their guinea pigs to dogs as food because no one really bugs guinea pigs here and I feel so sad about it I just sometimes wish that I could bring all the piggies from pet shops and keep them safe with me😞
 
Signed. Yes. Truly horrific. Did you hear that Petsmart's main breeders sold a pig with an untreated eye infection? I could rant. But I'll save everyone the 67 braincells. 😂
