Decided to buy some of these books after hearin about them on here. Will be handy to have them on hand to refer to if needed.:)

Anyone know the cheapest place to buy them? Been on Amazon, Ebay and the Peter Gurney website, but just thought i'd ask in case anyone had got a bargain anywhere! :))

Thanks

Nicola x

I like hunting for the best price too. :))

You could always post in the For Sale/Wanted board, some members are willing to part company with their books for a decent price.

I bought mine from eBay and Amazon. I've been after the Sex Life of Guinea Pigs book to complete my collection and the cheapest I have seen it is £10.

Best place for the readily available books is ebay as you can buy them direct from ruth gurney

I have to ask.

What are they...Exactly?

I'm an riddled with curiosity. :(|)

From what i've read on this forum Peter Gurney is an expert in the care and treatment of guinea pigs.

He has written several books on the subject which i thought would be useful to have on hand for reference, in particular, "Piggy Potions: Natural Remedies for Guinea Pigs".

I think I've got about all of them. I loved his writing style and they are choc full of useful advice, funny cartoons and gorgeous photos, mostly of his own piggies.

My second piggie, Warren, was one of his piggies and I learned so much from taking my boys there for boarding and advice. He was certainly one in a million for so many reasons. RIP Peter.

Hey castaway where did he live as I am in cardiff and you newport. Was he fairly local?

I have piggy potions and it was a pain to find it NOT over £25! I got it for £11 I think in the end and it's so cute. I have 2 others of his but not sure what they are called. I got lucky in that when Borders was closing they had one of his there half price. Bargain!

I want the one on different breeds now.

I bought Piggy Potions from PAH about two years ago for £5...I feel lucky! I got "What's My Guinea Pig" for my birthday so no idea on the price. I do wonder if the value of his books has gone up a little since he passed, some of them seem more expensive and hard to find in the last few years.

He was a London man Lisa, but I imagine his piggies were rehomed across the country. I never got to meet him myself, but it seems quite a lot of us have.

I think piggy potions is out of print now so you can only get second hand ones (I think). I ordered it from 3 websites and all came back saying they could no longer get it and refunded me. Finally I got it from an online antique and speciality book store. It was a mission to get actually so you were very lucky!

I think the other one is a bit easier from looking at amazon but I have ordered my book quota for this month so maybe next month on that one.

Have you tried Green Metropolis.com, I have used it a few times and never had any problems. You could also try your local library, I've had quite a few guinea books out from ours, although they tend to be in the kids section for some reason.

I couldn't be without Peter's books they have served me very well over the years, as has his website.

Ruth often has Peter's books for sale on eBay and she is a lovely lady to deal with. When I read Peter's books it's like sitting having a conversation with him! I had the pleasure of conversing with him on a forum many years ago and he was a wonderful chap. Good luck with your book search, you won't be disappointed.:)

Hi Lisajazz. I was living in North London at the time and he lived sort of Wandsworth way in South London. It worked out about the same travelling time to go there as to CCT, so I used both.

I take my boys to the Pet Rodent Centre, not far from Pontypridd. David's a CCT trained rodentologist and they are just brill, although they've had to cut back on some of the services for family reasons just recently. They also work quite closely with my fab vet, Mark Bridges, in Morganstown.

Oh, wow.

I'll have to look into this. I'd quite like these myself.

I ache to learn more about piggies. Online is useful but I find it to be such a jumble sometimes.

Thank you xx>>>
Sorry for barging in on this thread @)

GREAT! Thanks to this thread I have just got more books! Hope hubby doesn't notice the card transactions hee hee.

I got What's my guinea pig (amazon) and the first of their kind (from Ruth on Ebay)

I also want last of their kind too but that's going to HAVE to wait.
