My poor little Peter, I fear that he is finally very near to the end. He must be nearly 7 years old now.

He got ill this year, more so than normal. He is plagued with fatty lumps and appeared to be in discomfort so was put on daily metacam. In Feb when my dad passed away I asked him to give me at least a month as I couldn't cope. He has given me so much more than that.

He came off the daily metacam in August when his sebaceous cyst burst and he has coped really well without any meds. Today was the big clean out day and health check. He usually loses around 20-40g per week but this week he has lost 130g. He feels like a bag of bones and is the lowest weight since I have owned him.

He was also filthy around his bum, I thought he was impacted but the poo's are just far too soft for him to push out so it's going everywhere around his bits and pieces. I cleaned him up well with a view to keeping an eye on him. I have just gone out to fed them and give Isobel her antibiotics and he is filthy again. I will weigh him again tomorrow and I know my vets are open for emergencies tomorrow. I have a feeling that Weds I will be revisiting with maybe having him PTS especially if the vets feel he is in discomfort.

Poor Pete presently has:
- A sebaceous cyst above his back leg
- approximately 10 fatty lumps of various sizes across his chest and abdomen
- a lump under his chin which is growing (and I believe may be an abscess - I made the decision to leave be as it wasn't affecting him and it came up in summer when he was already on "borrowed time")
- Osseous Metaplasia

I can see his age in his eyes now and he just looks tired. I am not ready for him to leave me but I cannot let my precious little boy suffer. I know we aren't supposed to have favourites but he clearly is, we've been through so much together

So sorry to hear this. Peter has lived to a good age and has had a lovely home with you something I hope you can take comfort from. You can only be guided by your own instinct and your vets advice. I am sending Peter healing vibes and hope very much that he can rally once more. Sending you hugs and my very best wishes, at such a difficult time for you.

I'm sorry Peter is deteriorating.i hope the vet can gives meds to ensure Peter is comfortable.Hugs to you.positive vibes sent.

So sorry that you are in this position, but it sounds like you and Peter have a very close bond and so you will make the right decision when you need to.
Wishing both of you peace and strength in the days ahead.

I'm so sorry that Peter has deteriorated Kelly. Poor old chap. I'm sure you and the vet will decide what is best for the little fellow. Huge hugs xx

Well my boy is clinging on for dear life at the moment. He is clearly deteriorating but not as quick as I thought. I have been giving him a smidge of Isobels metacam to tide him over for now and he's up and about running around like normal (as much as an elderly piggy runs around). His diarrhoea cleared up quick, he was a bit "sticky" yesterday but back to normal poops today and no swelling around his man parts. I am steering clear of watery veg for now. He still comes running for his veg but doesn't eat as much as he used to, he is losing around 10g a day.

I've put off a vets visit for the moment while I monitor him but as he looks so lively again I don't want to rush him. Will see how he goes over the coming days.
