Theres one in swindon that doesnt sell animals, but theres another down in bournemouth(where I'm about to be living) that does, so i avoid them same as pets at home, they are a chain no different so likely the animals come from similar sorces

I have one near me, they seem to be more expensive than pets at home, so I don't tend to go there.

They used to be brilliant places to get hamsters from as they would be handled and would be tame from day one! (before I knew about rescues)

I've not heard of them, but there may not be any up my way.

Having said that, their breeder/sex/health guarantees seem far better than P@H, so assuming they practice what they preach, they might be ok even for a pet shop. They say they provide birth certificates for their animals so you can trace the breeders; that's very interesting. I have no doubt that there are in fact reasonable, responsible breeders who don't run battery-style rodent farms out there, so being able to tell exactly where that animal has come from, and check them out if you want, is pretty significant in convincing me they MAY be more responsible than other places about sourcing their animals.

If there's one near me I might try and "mystery shop" them some time and see what size cages, etc. they recommend for pigs. They try to set themselves apart from "competitors" who are "happy selling cramped cages and hutches," so I'd be curious if that holds up and if their staff really are knowledgeable.

I don't wanna buy a guinea pig from there but I think they will be much better than Pets @ Home, Ive applied for a job there and I was asking what people thought of the company if they have been to one! :)

I know them very well ;)

Animal - wise, I don't think any pet shop can be completely ok as there's always going to be employees that will ignore training/be lazy/do things wrong however as a general rule pets corner have at least one days training in sexing/handling/health checking/selling animals that they stock. Sources of the animals vary, all breeders are 'certified' as they have to go through a visit/questionnaire, although wont say much on that.

As a company they are (in my opinion) a lot better than P@H. They aim to provide top customer service and advise on all areas of pet care but particularly pet nutrition. They're not just there to provide products but to advise on them.
