Hi all, I'm after a favour for one of my degree students at the college I work in. She's doing an assignment on animal domestication and she's chosen to do it on guinea pigs.

She was asking if I have any pictures of my pigs as really young babies. As mine are all rescue pigs, the youngest aged pictures of them I've got is 6 weeks old. The college hasn't bred any pigs for several years now, so we don't have any pigtures from our animal unit either.

Can anyone here help? Especially people who have had unexpected litters or volunteer at rescues?

Many thanks in advance! :D

Great, thanks. I'll pass them on.

They're very, very cute. Big ears and little bodies.

And no, I've got not idea why google images results aren't being used!

You have to careful using Google images, as they haven't got the copyright owners permission to be used.
I knew being a librarian would come in handy one day lol

That would be the sensible answer for the google question!

I agree with the cuteness overload.comments. They're all gorgeous.

The student in question sends huge thanks to those who have provided photos. :luv:

Oh my gosh, I am dying of the cute over here! I have to confess I've actually never seen a newborn pig, though my daughter's friend did e-mail us some cute pics when one of her pigs gave birth (accidental pet store incident where one of the pigs came home pregnant and they had no idea!) I love the 'head too big for my body' stage of pig development. Our little pig is about 3 months old now and just now starting to get more proportionate looking, but I love looking back at her baby pics when she was about 4 weeks old and all ears and feet!

You can pick them up with just one hand when they're babies and they fit in your palm. Our mother pig was a rescue who we didn't realise was pregnant until one day my daughter said "Mummy, she's getting fatter!", then off to the vets! The first one was still born but it was an amazing experience to see the birth and we kept the boys. None are with us anymore, they've all passed over the rainbow bridge.

My piggy babies where a pet store incident too. They are now all grown up and adult. Luckily the pet store had the males neutered at their expense. So they now live as a happy family of 5 in a two storey hutch.

Wow...we got our rescue mother piggy from pets@home (someone handed her in and they probably knew she had been with a male) and while they offered free food and hay, they didn't offer free neutering! We had our two boys neutered so that they could live in a two storey cage with 3 sows but the males fought (they lived happily together if the females were in another room) and we had to make 2 separate the floors and split them up.

I got my piggies from pets@home. They offered free food and hay (as much as I liked!) They also offered a free hutch. I said that I didn't have room for another hutch and asked whether they would neuter the boys to my surprise they said yes! If you don't ask you don't get!
