Didn't think I'd be posting here so soon after joining. But today Pickle passed away at the vets. Although she and Pepper (who is still with me) had only been living here for eight months, they'd made a big imprint on my heart. Not sure what went wrong. She was fine on Wednesday, then suddenly went very quiet/not eating very much yesterday, and today she died. Only around 2 years old as well.

Will miss your cheeky face with it's half a ginger moustache.

Oh no rip Pickle. I hope Pepper can bring you spme comfort at this sad time.
 
Oh that is terrible news! Don't forget Pepper will be grieving for the loss of a friend too! Sending lots of love your way! and my family of 5 are sending lots of love to Pepper too! xx

I know Pepper will be missing Pickle, and will be keeping a very close eye on her over the next few days. Thank you.
 
Oh I'm soooo very sorry for your loss and I know it's even harder when they pass unexpectedly. My piggy was fine one day and the next she was very ill and had to be pts she'd only just turned 3 four days before.
 
I am so very sorry for your loss. The suddenness of it is such an awful shock and hard to get your head round. Your little piggy had a wonderful life full of love with you. Huge hugs

Thanks to everyone who has commented. It is a shock, but keeping an eye on Pepper is important as well.
 
Oh my god, I've shed a tear for pickle. It was only a moment ago I welcomed you to the forum. I am so so sorry for your loss, you're doing the best thing by keeping an eye on Pepper and giving her extra cuddles too.

Just want to say a big thank you to everyone who has posted. I still need to ring the vets in order to decide what to do with Pickle. Just haven't been able to bring myself to pick up the phone.
 
I'm so sorry for your loss :-( I too have lost a young pig suddenly. She was only 18 months old and was fine in the morning and dead at night despite 2 vet trips that day and without even a gram of weight lost. Its so difficult when we lose them suddenly as blame ourselves, but sadly sometimes it's all just out of our control.

I'm so sorry for your loss, losing a piggy is devastating.
Run free pickles go & play with all the piggies that went before you.
