Okayso.

I give Fry & Laurie a bowl of mixed bag lettuce in the morning - and in the evening I give them a little bit of lettuce, mixed with something else.

I have tried - apple, pear, red pepper, baby corn, borccoli, carrot and celery.

They ate a little bit of celery when I first got them, and they like cabbage - but otherwise.. They won't eat anything other than lettuce.

Has anyone got any ideas of veg' or fruit that seem fool-proof? I'm desperate to find something they'll like before they get bored of lettuce. I mean they like grass and dandelion leaves, but surely they must like other stuff. :C

Cauliflower leaves, curly kale, sweetcorn & leaves, beans, peas, carrots and the tops, brocolli leaves, sprouts & tops, raw beetroot, small amounts of parsley - theres loads out there to try! Babies are always a bit slow to start but soon get the hang of it! Variety is the key!

I had this problem with my two boys not so long back. I was worried they werent getting enough vit c as they only seemed to enjoy eating salad, romaine lettuce, cucumber, celery etc. They are now a month older and are eating pretty much everything although they wont touch cabbage or broccoli and just look at me in disgust.

Their favourite is definitely cucumber though! :)

Why dont you try also carrot, peppers and corn on the cob as these always seem to go down a treat!

Hmm... if you want them to try something put a little peanut butter on the end of a carrot or something? And you can still try peaches, pineapples, nuts maybe? Maybe you can go to the grocery store and get a few little bits of things just to try and see what your guinea pig would like.

Mine love basil and Sooty loves the skin off melon. They also eat parsley, apple, kale, carrot, celery. They used to like cucumber but don't seem to like it anymore.
If your going to get herbs for them try at your local Asda because they hav them all at 2 for £1 so it might not cost as much :D

spinach, cucumber, rocket, watercress, romaine lettuce, parsley, strawberries, broccoli, salad cress - mine like all these

all lettuce except iceberg, cucumber, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, apple, banana skins, turnip, green beans, sweetcorn, kale, spinach, broccolli, cress, beetroot tops, Sprouts, melon, Bean sprouts, pumpkin, grass and dandelion are all my lots faves, depending on the time of year and availability too.

They don't have all this everyday! :)

Mine's picky too, but his favourite is plain old grass! Even if the weathers iffy, i go out and grab a handful of fresh grass and he loves it.

Blimey, they eat better than I do - can I come & live at yours?!

Today I made a guinea pig salad. (not made of guinea pig, its for guinea pigs..lol) I chopped up a banana, an apple, like 5 little carrots, 2 pieces of celery, and added some lettuce. Bimbi liked it, but he got full so he decided he wanted to wear it. So he dug under the bowl. :P Uberly cute.

LOL :D Variety is best for my lot, they get bored so quick!

Mine have grass, celery, cucumber, carrot, apple, spring greens. This forum is so great, get loads of ideas. I tried mine with tomato the other day, one liked it, others didn't. Also tried sweetcorn but none of them liked that. Going to try banana next. I love putting something different in their home & watching them come to investigate.

Mine love kale, carrots, cucumber, tomotoes, spring greens and red pepper. They have either a bit of apple or a couple of grapes once a week as a treat. Mine also love banana skins and beetroot - though it turns their urine red which I don't like so much! Mine are not to keen on brocolli or celery - it is always the last thing they eat.

My guineas would KILL for grass / dandelion mix! I give them an assortment of stuff. In winter raw beetroot is good (cut into quarters). Apparently if they are not given a lot of variety as babies, they are more picky as adults.

Mine love cucumber but its hasnt got alot of vitamin C so i try and give them tomatoes and peppers. My girls love it but the boys leave them.
If i want them to try something new i dont give them any cucumber, cos they fill themselves up on it, and leave it in there from the morning, if they are hungary enough they will eat it. I know it sounds cruel, but they got extra cucumber in the morning if they eat it!

Same here - they have a nibble at tomatoes, but thats all they do. peppers they wouldnt touch with a barchpole.

A couple of mine adore tomatoes, the others look at them in disgust. I have just one sow who adores oranges also, the others won't touch them.

A big Peruvian lad I used to have, could eat a whole banana at one sitting - he was huge, and won a Heaviest Guinea Competition, weighing in at 4lb 2oz!

whats that in kilos?

Dunno, I'm an 'oldie' so still think in pounds and ounces I'm afraid. Pepsi was VERY big and not at all fat, just really solid! I'll try to find a photo some time.
