Complete Syringe Feeding Guide

Here's the syringe feeding guide. Thankfully it's not very often that we have to syringe food or medicine into them but it's always good to know how.

It's also a good idea to get the piggy used to a syringe as they generally don't like them. You can give them a tiny bit of water by syringe weekly, then it's not as scary to them when/if you need to do it for medical reasons.

Thank you.

maybe it was my piggie... I have a pic of Calliope taking her syringe with water...
I started using the syringe for giving both my piggies the drops of vit C supplement. The very first days I was not able at all... they refused it and I had to block their head. Then, two days later, they learnt that inside the syringe there was something yummy and now as soon as they hear the typical noise of the objects I use for preparing that mix (vit C+water) they are thrilled and move towards the syringe! Then I tried to make them drink some drops more of water... unfortunately they don't drink any water from the bottle or from the bowl and although the vet says I don't have to worry, I wonder if they simply know the way of drinking (!), as I have realised that they now drink 4-5 syringes of water (if I add some drops of cranbery juice) and when they are not thirsty they simply turn their head.
I use this method twice a day during cuddle time and of course for them the view of the syringe is something very good.
Therefore although I started only for giving them the supplement and some water it is also a very good way for getting them used to the syringe which might be necessary in the future. I would like to make a short video of my piggies drinking from the syringe, they are really funny because they don't waste any single drop of water and they now take on their mouth only the tip of the syringe, using their lips and their tongue for drinking slowly. There is nothing forced and made innaturally. After 4-5 syringes they simply turn around and relax.
Below there is Calliope with my daughter; unfortunately the pic does not show the moment when Calliope climbed on her for reaching the syringe:))
