One of my pigs (Popcorn) chews on the grids of my new C&C cage I received from guineapigcages.com which is painted black. The paint frays slightly when she does so. Could this harm my piggy? She doesn't get a lot of the paint off but I'm just worried it could eventually harm her in a way.

Hi I am unsure if it would harm her especially if it is just a little bit. You could always try to distract her with things like more hay: hay stuffed inside cardboard tubes, a pile of hay and hay racks. Adding lots of hay stuff has stopped my boys chewing the bars. Hope this helps.

If you are worried contact the supplier to see if the paint is non-toxic (which I'm sure it should be). My pigs have managed to chew the plastic off my C&C a bit and there's been no sign of trouble.

I used to get them chewing the side of the cage more often before but they don't do it anymore, except when it's feeding time and they are at the sides waiting for me to hand them some pieces of whatnot lol I haven't noticed any bad effects though only 2 of my cages have plastic coated wiring and the others are just metal.
