That's a lot of hair! But cute piggies and I bet the bums feel better with all that fluff away from their pooping ends.

Ah and it seems we have rumbled where Mr Trumps hair sneaks off to!

I might need to have another round with Rambo though! She'll hate it. She should be grateful I let her keep her peacock tail

They are pretty impressive hair cuts! My poor Effie looks like she's had her hair cut with kitchen scissors! I'll never be a hairdresser but at least she feels better after a haircut! It doesn't help that she has both abysinnian and Peruvian in her though so her hair was on the wild side when I adopted her

Well done! My coronet gets a bowl cut :D

How the heck do they hold still enough for a butt trim. I tried yesterday and they were trying to make suicide leaps off my lap. And do you wash their rear ends?

Any tip greatfully received! New to hairy pigs

If your piggies are still a little shy and scared, its best to wait for them to come round before you try a proper trim. Until then, you can have someone hold them and feeding veg at the front whilst you trim the back!

My long haired piggy gets urine on her back end once her hair gets long enough to be wee'd on. I usually trim the bum area on week 2 followed by a little bum bath and dry, followed by a full hair cut then a full bath n blow dry on week 4. This usually keeps her clean and knot free- she only gets brushed once a week as her hair literally never once knots or matts if i keep on top of 2 weekly trims. I only have the one long haired piggy (one is enough for me!). The rest usually have a brush at the same time as mallow, just to get rid of lose hair and for some tlc! They only get bathed as and when needed- one is every 4 weeks as she becomes quite a smelly pig by that point, one is every 8 weeks as she is white and arthritic so usually has a little urine on her coat from where shes been sound asleep in the one place for a long time, and my baby only ever needed a bath when i got her 3 months ago. They are all different and once you get into the swing of bum baths and trims, you will work out how often they need done. If you keep the hair trimmed short, you shouldnt need to bathe often. Run the hair between your first and middle finger, and trim below the fingers so you have no chance of catching the skin. For under neath and near the genitals/nipples, use a fine toothed plastic comb (like a human one) to grab the hair then trim against the comb, not the skin x

They're great tips. They are very hand tame but werent having any of the scissors, and they are proper sharpe grooming scissors so wont pull. I'm a dab hand at old English sheepdogs, poodles and shiz tzu but the piggies had me beat!,,

Attempt 2 later today!

I'm sure the back is fine! As long as its short enough to not be wee'd on, you've done your job !

We trim Vimto short on the bum :))
