Hi everybody,

My long suffering other half and I are bashing around with the idea of opening lodgings for Piggies and Bunnies for when people go on their jollies. Does anybody on the forum have any experience with this kind of thing.

We would appreciate everybodys thoughts good or bad :)

Thanks

I think it is a great idea if you have the space, time and drive to do it:))

If I had the space I would do something like that or open up a rescue centre:))

I have no experience of owning holiday homes, but i think its a fab idea if you have time, money (for the start up) and the space :) perhaps you could look at other holiday homes and see how much they charge what their set ups are like ? :) Good luck!

I run Loversall lodge small animal hotel and I love it! It's awesome looking after different animals! Take a look at my website if you want :-) xx

I do guinea pig boarding feel free to get in contact with me if there's anything you want to ask.

Thank you, I think I might just book myself in for a quick stay at your beautiful house :)

It is something that I would like to do in the future, that and rescuing. I foresee two big sheds for me!

I cant quite beleive it ! This is my husbands idea ! This time last year he was busy building my Pig Brother House ! and moaning all the way. This year, he wants more but to come on their holidays :)) I think he's been bitten by the piggin bug :)):)):)):))

I've got a pet care business (Little Badger's Pet Care), and I do cat feeding, dog walking and small animal boarding. The biggest part of my business so far is cat feeding, where I go to the clients home. I also feed some rabbits and guinea pigs in their own home and others come to board with me. I have pet business insurance and I am police checked, which is reassuring to the client, when they are handing over keys to their home. Before any booking is made, I either visit the client or they visit me, we discuss their requirements and contracts are drawn up. Veterinary authorisation forms are completed, so that I have permission to sign consent forms if need be. I make sure I get a detailed Pet Information Form, so I have as much info about the pet as possible.

It's a fantastic job, but it's also a huge responsibility when you are providing care for someone elses pet.

A fantastic book to help anyone setting up a petsitting business is 'How to start and run a petsitting business' by Fiona Mackenzie.

If anyone would like any further information please get in touch either by PM or email [email protected]
