hi everyone

I noticed yesturday, my piggie gizzie had a lump from his umbilical to this hind leg, the problem is I think it has to do with when he was castrated when he was 9 months old, the vet pulled to hard on his testicle and it snaped back into his abdomen, and he ended up with a abscess, poor wee sausage, he was fine after a month and a half trying to get rid of the abscess, he is now 2 years old, and where they had to cut him open on his abdomen, has a lump going right up to his belly button, he is fine in himself and eating, and his weight is fine (I weigh them every sunday), I think he may have a hernia, vets do not open again till tomorrow. my poor wee man, he has just lost his best friend charlie, and no matter how many spot ons I put on he is always plagued with mites, could this be because of the lump/hernia running him down.

Poor little guy, let us know how he gets on at the vets. If he goes downhill or appears in pain do you have an emergency service you can get him to?

oh bless him :( sounds like he has been through the mill! Is your vet a cavy savvy one? Might be worth making sure you have a specialist look him over. Of course it could be something of nothing (e.g. a fatty lump which are common but generally harmless and treatable) but well worth getting him looked at carefully to ensure its nothing sinister

Spot on doesn't work on all mites. It would be worth giving him a bath in a good anti-parasitic shampoo (I use Lyclear or FleaorDie), one a week for 3 weeks to see if that helps. Regarding the lump, a trip to the vet for a proper diagnosis would be my recommendation. Hope you get it sorted out. x

I have also found 'Lice n Easy' shampoo from 'Gorgeous Guineas' works very well. It really seems to leave the coat super soft as a bonus! Hope you get sorted really soon. XX
