Hi everyone, I'm new :)p

I'm nina and I'm mum to mr Pig - he was known as piglet but hes turned out to be quite a bold character - Hense the Mr.

I was just wondering what everyone elses experiences are with piggies and dogs?!

Mr Pig is 15 months now, and he is without a doubt, best buddies with my cav king charles spaniel. Shes never had pups, so I often wonder if it started out as mothering instinct?

anyway, itsturned out to be quite a remarkable friendship to be honest, one I wasnt expecting ?/

Nina :)

Hello and welcome to the forum :)p.
Aaw, thats so sweet. I haven't had an experience like that, but I would assume if I let my pigs run with my dog, he wouldn't hesitate to kill them :(. He's a part Husky so just has that instinct. Guinea pigs do like company (I'm assuming yours is a lone boar), so he may have found friendship in your dog as he doesn't have another pig for a companion. How sweet of them though :)

thanks for the welcome Shellza,

I admit I expected the same reaction - and kept the the dog well away when mr pig arrived. They just sort of made friends through the fabric babygate and the rest is history really.

even though my dog is a toy breed, its still a spaniel, so you just wouldnt expect it! as you say, it maybe for company. I'm still very wary, and supervise them, but they are best buddies :)

Aw, how cute. Yeah, I think my dog would probably come around, but I'd never leave him unsupervised with the pigs. I do like King Charles spaniels...so cute! x) Look forward to seeing pics.

Depends on the dog doesn't it. I have a Patterdale Terrier and I just know that she would harm them if they were left with her, for any amount of time, so I don't risk it. She was bred by a farmer who uses them for hunting, but has never hunted in her life because since being a young pup, she has been with me and I don't do that sort of thing. She does definitely have the 'I must chase everything that moves fast' attitude. Although I do show them to her and she likes to say hello whilst having a little moan to herself haha

My brother's friend once brought his Cavalier King Charles Spaniel over. His name is Max, and he did NOT like Gilbert. He barked at him everytime he came over my house - without doubt, I separated the two.
