When I pick up my piggy Cali, she starts breathing fast and loud. I always listen to her lungs, and they sound normal. She is a very healthy piggy. Should I be worried about her?

Awwww a beautiful piggy I wouldn't worry about the breathing it is probably because (despite how much they may trust us etc) their little hearts will speed up like any prey animal when out of their comfort zone so she is probably breathing faster to compensate hence the more audible breathing.

She loves me but I probably still scare her a bit when I pick her up as she still runs. When I first pick her up, she has the loud breathing and I feel her heart beating very fast. After about 30 secs-1 min her breathing is quiet and heartbeat slows

That's exactly the same as my Mo whilst airborne he breaths quite quickly and it takes a moment on my lap on the floor for it to slow again. I suppose I can't blame him Id feel slightly nervous too putting my life in someone else's hands lol

She is likely stressed when you pick her up. Guinea pigs have very narrow airways at the best of times. As they age, like in some humans, these can narrow even further in some piggies, too.

Try to see whether training her to come into a pick up tunnel or walk-in box can cut down on the stress factor.

Sounds like a simple stress reaction if it improves after a short while.
