Back in October one of our piggies got very ill and we had to rush her to the emergency vet. Since then she has had ongoing tummy issues. She is now back to her normal weight and is happy little pig most of the time but she sometime squeaks when she poops. The poop itself can also be quite soft.

We have had all types of tests done to find out what is the problem (blood test, x-ray, ultrasound) and everything has come back negative. She's currently one pain killers to help her deal with any pain. in addition to this we have changed so many things to make sure it isn't anything we are giving her that is causing the issue. But nothing seems to have solved the issue, it's helped but not solved it. Our vet is amazing and has her own piggies so she knows the animal really well.

Has anyone ever come across this before? We just can't seem to get to the bottom of what the issue is.

I am very sorry; it is tough when you can't find out what you are up against! :(

My Pili Pala has been diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in the wake of a GI stasis last October. The end of her bowel had noticeably thickened but she was suffering from a very up and down weight (tendency sinking with each episode) and inconsistent poos. She is now on a life long cocktail of matacam, emeprid, zantac and cisapride as steroids (which is the best treatment) are a strict no no for rodents. I didn't think she would be able to celebrate her 5th birthday in December, but she is still here and I cherish every day with her. She needs top up feeding for some other issue (suspected hyperthyroid) but her IBS is actually pretty stable since she's gone on cisapride and her poos have stabilised nicely. That is perhaps something your vet might want to consider? It is not quite common, but can obviously happen.

I am sure that your vet has long since excluded reproductive tract issues, as that is usually one of the first places to look after the urinary tract.
