honestly i did him a favour by trimming out the matt in his butt fur how do i get thanked? he screamed the house down, bit one of the girls i had asked to help hold him still pee'd all over the couch then bit me for puttiing him back in the cage. if he wasnt cute i dunno what id do with him (any offers?) :))
 
This might be a dumb question, but so be it:

Is it possible they have nerves in their hair? I had to trim the urine-soaked hair off of Red the day after he came to my house, and he yelled like I was killing him with the least tug of his hair.
 
Haha... I have the same problem! When I cut Smokey and Sweet Pea's butt hair they hate it! I get someone else to hold them while I cut it. Even then they go squealing! Ow well. It's long haired guineas I suppose! :)

I had to cut most of Morgan's fur off last night as he is standing and peeing on it he was fairly well behaved but didn't want to sit still rolleyes

Being a groomer little sweets doesn't get trimmed around his boy parts he gets shaved andloves it... its the only time he's quiet about getting cleaned up maybe he likes the vibration Haha rolleyes.

They might have whiskers?
My mommy always told me not to play with my kitty's whiskers cause if you cut them it hurts. Maybe it's the same for guinea pigs.
 
You aren't alone... Archie screams my house down when I trim his hair, or even pick him up or stroke him. I think it pulls a bit because his hair is so long. He's not bitten me yet though, thank god.
Piglet sounds like such a character though, he does make me chuckle.
 
Naughty Piglet :)) Our long haired piggie used to have a winge while we were trimming butt fur, we found using parsley as a bribe helped and she'd sit there happily chomping while we trimmed away...
 
life is even harder with piglet because he is disabled as a side effect of his ear infections they have him with in effect motion sickness so he gets dizzy really easily

I must've got lucky. Jinx, my peruvian, will allow me to cut is hair pretty calmly. he'll wiggle a little bit but he doesn't make much noise. He's a pretty laid back piggy.
 
gizmo our resident walking mop will just sit there but he is one of those 'loyal' animals he's loyal to whoever has food

Poor Piglet - mats pull painfully on the skin, and it can hurt when you cut them off. Piggies can freak out from remembered pain.

I have a couple of occasional screamers, too! mallethead Thankfully no biter since Minx.
 
My peruvian Squeek has a dry skin, and will sometimes scratch a lot, I once took him to the vet, who could not find any mintes under the microscope, but gave him an injection for mites just in case... He screamed so much at the vet, that everyone came looking.
He was still "telling the vet off" by the time i've paid and loaded him back in his carrier. Silly boy!
