I had the girls and Fred out, Pebbles sat like an angel on my niece knee, wilma cuddled into her leg and Fred lay next to Wilma. All piggies were extremely happy to sit and be cuddled. Well to be fair Fred did freeze but thats not the point :)).

They are never this good, they usually always run everywere but seemed very happy to stay put and Wilma also gave some wonderful I cannot hold my bladder please put me back immediately which was lovely of her :)!

I'm wondering, do pigs know she's a child? Or is that crazy thinking?! mallethead

I'm sure they know they were dealing with a kid! Animals sense stuff like that, somehow... At least dogs, cats and horses. I haven't seen kids with pigs, but it's not impossible, is it?

I'm wondering if it's because previously the girls used to be owned by children and thats why they behave so well?

I think that pigs can tell the difference between adults and chidlren. As Joey is frightened of chidlren and i think that is because of his background, as he came from a family of chidlren and they seemed abit 'wild' and when they got him out to show me he was so scared! Gizmo isnt that bothered but will sometimes hide if my nieces come round, but i think its because they are so loud and my pigs arent used to chidlren being around making noise.

So it could be that your girls are used to children and Fred isnt or he had a bad experince with children?

:)

Too be fair I think Fred is used too no one :))... he's not the most trusting pig thats for sure :))!

I don't think it's much to do with children, but with your lot being so well settled that they will trust kind strangers.

They might know that the person is smaller, so they may conclude that it's a child? I don't know. I don't know if guinea pigs can "conclude" things though. They are animals, but not to say they are stupid, because they are most definitely not. But I don't think they think the same way humans do. But you never know, they might know the difference between children and adults.

Mimsi, Montgomery & Lady Penelope are all well behaved during cuddle time with my relatives but Matilda is like a bucking bronco! Matilda has never liked being handled but will allow me to pick her up when she knows the cage is being cleaned. If only all piggies were like my Montgomery. He stands on his back legs and tries to scale my legs to get up for a cuddle.

Ok I take it back...

We had cuddle time with the pigs again nobody wanted to sit on my nieces knee :)). Which was quite amusing as she was not impressed but saying that the girls didn't want to sit on my knee either but they never do rolleyes.

Fred on the other hand enjoys sitting on my knee after he has a nose around he jumps up on my knee and sits quite happily. Pebbles was sitting just infront of me below were Fred jumps up, Fred went to jump onto my knee and she warned him off :))... nice little nip!

Strange... But Fred managed to jump up from the other side, I wish I could have got it on video, it was so funny!

He regained his castle :)!
