Hi Guys just a quick question when you let your pigs out in the garden are they constantly supervised?

At the moment I have been using Fuglys cage roof as a run but I have seen a flat pack run at pets at home the problem is there are lots of cats where I live so I would never be able to leave Fugly unsupervised, this limits his outside time to weekends and evenings.

Just wondered what you guys did with your pigs, being nosy really.

Thanks

Mine are in enclosed runs and I do leave them out when I'm not home - otherwise they'd never go out! I know some people choose not to though. I wouldn't leave them in an open run though.

I have one who free-ranges (Mr Bojangles) but he only does that when I'm at home and in the garden. Cats don't seem to bother (next door's cats don't come in my garden because my dog won't let them).

Also some runs are heavier than others - I've got one that is heavy and secure and I'm happy nothing would get in it - others are less so!

Hi
I have a wire pet pen I use. It has a cover, which is made out of fabric in a mix of mesh/solid panel for shade, so although ok for when I'm around, I don't think is solid enough to leave them out all day, unfortunately

I have to supervise them.
I did have a enclosed run, til my dad accidently threw it in the dump ::) . I use open c&c grids now, so I have to supervise them cos of cats!

xx

u have 4 runs in my gradan for all of my 12 piggies - b ut I'm a childmidner with my mum so we work from home

So the piggies can go out al day liek today there been out from 10am, but liek say if we take the kdis to the playgym i wouldnt put them out becouse 2 of the runs which i have from pets at home the tops just slide of so my cat could easily just push it and get in the run with them.

and as well as having a cat there are lots of cats where i lvie and the men who lives arross the raod has a dog called jack who ever no and then escpes and allways runs aross to our house and is stight in back garden . So if me or mum are not in the house there dont go out , but my mum dont go out much anyways

My 2 have a secure run with a small lid on top. Even though it is secure, I don't leave them in it whilst i'm not at home. Yesterday however, it was really warm and we needed to pop to the garden centre. OH said they'd be fine for an hour so I left them, and they were fine. I was worried sick though :o

All mine are out in secure runs the wire runs have heavy corrugated plastic and bitumen tops to provide shade and security
the other wooden runs are heavy and offfer adeqyate protection from the local cats and as with Merlin and the Welsh Ladies protection for the cats! ;D
i tried them with the mesh and shade tops but even with me popping in for 5 mins last summer a cat got in!
i let it out as it was panicking like mad Guineviere had blood on her but checking her over she was fine! a where the others!
Poor Pussy! ::)

i'm sure Fugly would love to be out for awhile, but i too sit and supervise or at least do gardening whilst Duke's outside O0 Just me being paranoid but i don't trust the wildlife in our area >:( foxes, rabbits, echidna's, lots of birds so no way could i let him stay outside without supervision :o

I've got a big heavy home made run, and it's covered so I'm fine with leaving them out for short periods unsupervised, though wouldn't like to leave them all day, I'm an overprotective mummy!

i have a big run with a lid and padlock, I'm jobless atm so I'm around all day, but my mums here all day too anyway, if i go out they go back in the shed.

I have a big home made run which is secure and they can stay in that all day, also have another big run also secure, and a smaller run which is actually a broody coop (sp) ;D which is very heavy & only suitable for 2 pigs, but they love it O0

i have to constantly supervise mine really as next door neighbour has 3 german shepherds and doesn't keep an eye on her dogs at all so piggies have mummy standing gaurd with a spade incase nasty dogs try something lol
