Does anyone have any experience of feeding two pigs of different ages, when the older one is on cavy cuisine already? Merry is on cavy cuisine, and I would prefer not to change his food when I get a new baby friend for him. I was thinking about getting cavy performance for him, do you think a mix of food would be ok, or should I get a completely different food for them?
Ta muchly.

I would feed the cavy cuisine, that along with veges and good hay is all bub will need to thrive,
The performance is great and i was feeding two of my boys on it but they were 4 weeks old and 6 months old.
Most of my pairs have had a friend that is alot younger but due to the fat content i chose cavy cuisine,
The issue is your older pig could gain way to much weight on the performance(my vet ran out of cuisine so i had to get performnce and two weeks on it packed on bulk to my already borderline chubby pigs so not good)
xx

Bonnie has explained it all very well. When I have had young pigs arrive (sometimes as young as three weeks) I don't feed them anything special...I do make sure they get a bit of parsley every day to help with calcium needs, but the adults usually get either parsley or dill daily anyway! A varied diet and good quality hay will set them up well, pellets don't have to be alfalfa-based.

Thankyou both, I'm glad I don't have to change nosh for them! xx
